Did you know that Chinese (Calcined) Bauxite is environmentally damaging?
Do you know what it is? It's the coloured surfacing put down on roads by councils.
Where does it come from?
China
Indonesia
Burma (Myanmar)
Vietnam
Not exactly examples of free-trade or democracy hey? But let's put that to one side.
Many, many fields and green areas are destroyed to mine the bauxite. and these countries do not pay the farmers or land owners to destroy their land. Once this land is destroyed, it is gone. Forever.
The coloured resin which comes from the same countries, is from the natural colourings of the soils and clays in the ground.
To get it? You have to excavate grass and trees, and wildlife habitation.
So there you are. Your council destroys the environment in the east, to save the environment in the UK, for a bus that is 10% full and pollutes more than a car. Nice!
