Is The Giff against the MetroBus?
No. We just don't agree with the Hatchet Road extension. Others have stated there appears to be no clear cost benefit for the destruction of greenery for MetroBus. Read other viewpoints [more...]

SAVE HATCHET ROAD
Stop widening for MetroBus!
"MetroBus can be routed along the existing dual-carriageway of Great Stoke Way" says Adam Gentle campaigner against the MetroBus route proposed along Hatchet Road. "No need for the destruction of parks, trees and properties. This is senseless destruction."
Piercing the heart of Stoke Gifford
To cater for the MetroBus green route, the council will have to widen Hatchet Road up to a very wide three lanes. That’s an extra ten metres wide.
This will mean land grab of gardens, trees & parks. Reduction in size of Meade Park, The Royals Park, gardens and of course it will take many years for trees to grow back. Imagine crossing a very wide three-lane road
It’s coming to your village, and the route will not utilise the dual carriageway of Great Stoke Way east of Stoke Gifford (they say it takes 14 mins longer!! – it’s actually 3mins,) it will, eventually, come down Hatchet Road, past Co-op (Parkway Tavern), The Green , historic buildings to Parkway station.
To make this possible, all the hedges, trees, parks and properties will be destroyed and ‘replaced’.
Think that’s OK? Look at the trees destroyed for the 2+ lanes on Filton Road (Ring Road). How long will it take for those trees and the wildlife to return?
Do you want an extremely wide, impossible to cross, three lane road in the heart of Stoke Gifford?
Sign our petition today and let's stop this before it's too late.

Why are there Metrobus protests?
The Giff is not against the MetroBus principal. So we cannot offer our views. However, a full and frank view of MetroBus can be found on Rising Up's Facebook page [more...]

Rising Up
What else has Stoke Gifford suffered?
South Glos council is an exceptionally good authority with the area one of the best in England, however Stoke Gifford has suffered some dreadful designs & engineering schemes. An unused Park & Ride, silly mini roundabouts. Non-construction of a dualled-bypass. The list goes on...

Are there alternatives?
Yes, here are alternative routes that will be better for Stoke Gifford AND the bus user, AND the council

DISCLAIMER: Fly-posting around Stoke Gifford is not carried out or encouraged by anyone at The Giff Publications.
Though we do share our thanks for the publicity!
