Bad Signs

Someone at South Gloucestershire council needs to go on a sign design course.

Signs in Stoke Gifford have mistakes on them, are placed in the wrong place or are just over the top.

Examples:

At least four upside-down roundabout signs (blue roundels) have been designed (so not just placed upside down, but actually designed on CAD) along Hatchet Road.

Welcome to Stoke Gifford signs on Winterbourne Road instead of Great Stoke Way. On Brierly Furlong its at least one mile too late. It should be on Great Stoke Lane (south).

Cycle signs on Brierly Furlong point the wrong way. Telling you that Bristol is north of Stoke Gifford!

Stoke Gifford

Bradley Stoke

Town Centre.

Town centre? Who’s town centre? The signs are in Stoke Gifford, and that’s a village, so we can only assume its Bradley Stoke’s. But then why put Bradley Stoke on the sign too? In fact why put Town Centre on the signs when not in Bradley Stoke. Very confusing.

A sign in the centre of Stoke Gifford telling you Stoke Gifford is even further on.

Non-legal signs telling you about speed bumps or roundabouts in a 30mph area with bright yellow backing boards. Bright yellow!! Very nice and over the top. It would be understandable on a 50mph road, not residential cul-de-sacs.

It’s a good job most people ignore signs, otherwise they would be in a right pickle.
